Happy Birthday, New Urban Habitat!

That’s right, New Urban Habitat is one year old!

For a long time, I never even imagined starting a blog. Then last spring as the crocuses and daffodils were starting to bloom, I changed my mind. And I’m so glad I did.

I’ve had so much fun writing and sharing over the last year. And most of all it’s been a pleasure connecting with and learning from all of you.

So thank you for visiting, reading, and commenting in this space.

I would link to those first few posts I wrote last March when New Urban Habitat was in its wee infancy, but they’re pretty bad. So instead, here’s a list of the top ten most popular posts of year number one:

  1. Do-it-yourselfing
  2. Milestones
  3. The Art of Walking
  4. Take Back Your Time
  5. Local Currency
  6. Simple Herbal Tonics
  7. Simplify Your Personal Care
  8. Slow Parenting
  9. Are you still using shampoo?
  10. New Urbanism

I’m looking forward to another year of blogging … and I’m also planning some big changes around here.

Now I’m hoping maybe you can do me a favor? Would you mind taking a moment to let me know what you value most here? What kind of posts would you like to read more of? Which of the topics you see over there on your right interest you most? And are there topics related to simple, healthy, and sustainable city living that you’d like to see here, but don’t? I would love to hear your thoughts.

You can leave a comment, or, if you prefer, send an email to newurbanhabitat at gmail dot com.

Thank you, and thanks for reading!

I enjoy the things you currently write but what I really enjoy reading is stories of people’s personal lives and how their values are reflected in their actual living. (By that I mean you sharing your own life, not writing about someone elses). If someone writes a how-to on something I want to know they actually do that thing. That their writing comes from their own experience and isn’t just research based writing.

Real stories of real people I like those best.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, Renee. Yes, that’s what I love about your blog – all the real life adventures, not to mention your incredible photographs.

Happy birthday!!!! And a huge congratulations on making it an entire year. :)

I love what you write about in general and like the comment above, I like when people write about their actual experience. Out of the topics you have, gardening, household and backyard chickens are of great interest. Well, in reality, they are ALL of great interest.

I enjoy reading most of your posts. Like Renee above I especially enjoy reading about you and your family and what you are doing and trying. You give me a lot of food for thought and I like that.

Happy anniversary/birthday! I’m so glad I found your blog and have both learned from and felt like-minded with your posts.

I think you have a knack for talking about positive, inspired ideas and movements and applying them to your own life and existence. Love that!
